How Mum Locked Up Mentally Challenged Daughter For 26 Years

According to ITV, a 26-year-old mentally challenged woman was freed by the German police on Tuesday from an apartment where her own mother had locked her up for over two decades.

She was fortunately discovered by chance during an eviction order carried out by the police at the apartment in Rosenheim, southern Germany.

When officers entered the apartment, they noticed a locked door which they broke down to discover the captive.

She was found in a “physically run-down and neglected state” in a “rubbish-strewn flat”.

A neighbour revealed he had lived next door since 2003 but never seen the 26-year-old woman.

According to a police spokesman, the woman has now been taken to the psychiatric home for proper treatment.

A 54-year-old tenant believed to be the captive’s mum reportedly threw herself down the staircase from the second floor when she noticed the police trying to gain entrance into the apartment. She was subsequently rushed to the hospital as she suffered severe injuries from the fall.
