See Why Man Connived With New Wife To Steal Ex-wife’s Newborn Baby Girl

A housewife in Niger State, Fatima Adamu, allegedly stole a day-old baby girl from her husband’s ex-wife, Samsiya Auwalu, following her husband, Mohammed Shehu’s instructions.

According to Nigerian Tribune, Adamu had visited Samsiya with her teenage niece, Aisha Badamasi, last Tuesday at about 11 am, supposedly to felicitate with her on her newborn’s arrival and subsequently advised the new mum to go and take her bath to prevent infecting her newborn. Samsiya reportedly heeded the advice and upon her exit from the room, Adamu strapped the baby to her niece’s back and instructed her to leave the compound immediately.

She then reportedly stayed back and attempted to set some of the clothes in the room on fire with a liquid substance suspected to be petrol which she had previously hidden in her bag to cause confusion among family members of the stolen baby. The baby’s mother however arrived and raised the alarm.

Police officers were promptly called in and though Adamu feigned ignorance about her niece and the baby’s disappearance, her niece was later caught in the neighbourhood with the baby still strapped to her back.

She later confessed that her husband, Mohammed Shehu, who was previously married to Samsiya but separated from her about a year ago, schemed the child theft when he learned his ex-wife had put to bed, with the intention to demand for a refund of the N40,000 he paid as her dowry, as a condition for her baby’s release.

This was reportedly later confirmed by Mohammed, who spilled he only wanted to use the baby to negotiate the refund of his money.
