Meet 62-Year-Old Doctor Pregnant With Third Child 27 Years After First Baby

62-year-old doctor, Lina Alvarez, had her first son 27 years ago, and her second, Samuel, 10 years ago at 52. Now, the mum of two, who says she feels like a woman half her age, has announced she’s thrilled to be pregnant with her third child, a baby girl.

Mirror UK reports Dr Alvarez, who lives in Lugo, north-west Spain, said, “I feel like a woman in her 30s. To feel better than this is impossible.”

Though her pregnancy has caused heated debate, the doctor, who claims she started menopause 20 years ago, spilled:

“I am very happy because I am living now my reward for so much suffering. It is a miracle…I always wanted to be a mother again, but most medical experts said no but some years ago I met a gynaecologist who agreed to help me if the tests were okay. They were positive, and so he helped me to implant an embryo.

They said there was only a 6 percent chance of success, but I got pregnant with a baby girl. And everything is going perfectly. I feel like I’m having a second chance and the pregnancy has made me feel younger and stronger.”

Reacting to criticisms on having a baby at her age, she said: “When she will be 30, I will be 90. I will be a grandmother as well as a mother and so what, the fact is that my daughter will have been brought up.”

She also shared on caring for her first son who is disabled as a result of a medical error.

“It was a life of tears. For years I cried every day because I could not face my son’s disease. He had to be in hospital twice a week,” she said.

She added that the stress of the condition caused when a gynaecologist damaged her son’s head during a routine test led to a divorce between her and her husband, and expecting a baby girl now is a reward for her suffering.

She has reportedly had a normal pregnancy so far and medics say the baby, due next month, is healthy and already around 2 kilogrammes (4.4 lbs) in weight.
