“Why I Don’t Want Any More Kids.” – Kelly Clarkson On Motherhood & Family

Singer, Kelly Clarkson who welcomed a baby boy, Remington Alexander, with husband, Brandon Blackston, in April, spilled on motherhood and why she won’t be having any more babies in a recent interview with E! News.

The 34-year-old American Idol winner who is also mum to a 2-year-old girl, River Rose, said:

“There is a giant difference between one kid and two, and then there’s an even bigger one: We have two older ones as well [referring to her husband’s two children from a previous marriage]. A lot of times we’ll have four kids in one house, so that’s a lot of kids – but, it’s good. It’s like 99 percent of the time is amazing and awesome. I didn’t grow up around my sisters or brothers…It’s a big family.”

She added when quizzed about having more kids:

“No! Unless someone dies and gives us their kids or something, no. I had miserable pregnancies, that’s why.”

She also opened up about the inspiration behind her kids’ names. She said:

“My husband and I, we live on a river, so we’re very original with that…We thought it (River Rose) was such a cool name because I like androgynous things, so I liked that it could have gone either way if it was a boy or a girl.

With Remy, we actually didn’t name him. Our friends did. We were at a lunch and I wasn’t even pregnant yet. I was like, ‘Man, if we have another kid, we’d want an R name.’ I think it was my nanny and my assistant shouted out ‘Remington!’ and we were like, ‘Ooh.’ We call him Remy B, because Remington and Remy don’t really fit. He’s kind of the most super chill dude ever. He kind of has to be, because our 2-year-old daughter rules the nest.

She is the opposite of chill. She is me! She is 100 percent all the time…the sweetest thing but she’s also 2, so she can go from the sweetest thing to the most awful thing. It’s like, ‘You need to not be a demon!'”

Meanwhile, in view of her difficult pregnancies and decision not to have any more kids, Kelly admitted she made her husband have a vasectomy and got her tubes tied after her son’s birth in April on Jenny McCarthy‘s Sirius XM show, The Jenny McCarthy Show, on Thursday.

She added:

“I was literally pregnant with Remi, and I was like, ‘You are getting fixed. This will never happen to me again.’ If something happens, it’s a miracle of God. I literally told my OBGYN on the table while open, ‘If I get pregnant again, I will find you!’

It’s horrible. Nothing is beautiful, nothing is magical. Whatever, you’re that person that gets that pregnancy, good for you. But I will remind my children every day of their lives what I [went through]…

I was like hospitalized both pregnancies. And then I thought, I wanted another little buddy [for River]. I didn’t want a kid to just be an odd man out because I felt like that a lot. I wanted her to have somebody her age, like when we’re traveling. And so I thought, ‘OK, we’ll just do it again.’ I was like, ‘There’s no way it can happen again,’ but it was worse. Remi’s pregnancy was worse than River’s.”
