Epe Kidnap Update: Pupils And Others Regain Freedom

The Vice Principal, four pupils, and teacher of Lagos State Junior Model College, Igbonla, Epe, Lagos, who were kidnapped by unknown gunmen six days ago, have regained their freedom.

Punch reports the six victims were freed around 11 pm on Tuesday.

The attackers, comprising five men and a woman, had stormed the school at about 8 am on Thursday and abducted four pupils, identified as Isaac Adebisi, Okonkwo Emmanuel, Abu, and Jeremiah, their English Language/Civic Education teacher, Lukman Oyerinde and the Vice Principal, A.O Oyesola.

It was gathered that apart from the family of the schoolboy who fell sick who paid a ransom of N1 m on Tuesday afternoon, other families did not pay any ransom.

The Rapid Response Squad of the Lagos State Police Command confirmed the release on its Twitter page, saying “the victims were all hale and hearty.”

A parent of one of the victims also confirmed that his son has been reunited with him.
