Amazing! See How This Miracle Baby Girl Was Born Twice

Texas–based mum, Margaret Boemer was 16 weeks pregnant when she was told her baby, LynLee Hope, had a sacrococcygeal teratoma – a rare and fatal tumour that grows from the tailbone. Obstetricians subsequently advised her to terminate the pregnancy, however, Dr. Darrell Cass, co-director of Texas Children’s Fetal Center, suggested the baby be removed from her womb to operate on the tumour and they settled for it.

She told CNN, “Lynlee didn’t have much of a chance. At 23 weeks, the tumor was shutting her heart down and causing her to go into cardiac failure, so it was a choice of allowing the tumor to take over her body or giving her a chance at life.”

LynLee Hope had a successful five-hour emergency fetal surgery, carried out by Dr. Cass and his Nigerian partner surgeon, Dr. Oluyinka Olutoye when her mum was 23 weeks and five days pregnant, and most of the tumour, which was almost larger than the foetus, was removed.

Dr. Cass said, “It’s kind of a miracle you’re able to open the uterus like that and seal it all back and the whole thing works.”

Boemer was reportedly placed on bed rest for the rest of her pregnancy and her miracle baby was ‘born again’ via Caesarean Section at 36 weeks on June 6, weighing in at 5 pounds and 5 ounces.

The rest of the tumour was removed eight days after her birth.

Now a healthy 4-month-old, though with a fairly long road to full recovery ahead, her excited mum relived, “It was very difficult (but) it was worth every pain.”
