7 Year Old Girl Raped By 19 Year Old Man In Lagos
A 19-year-old man, Opeyemi Yekini, was arraigned at a Surulere Chief Magistrates’ Court, Lagos, for allegedly defiling a seven-year-old girl, simply identified as Yinka.
The culprit was arrested after the little girl reported the incident to her parents.
He was picked up at his residence in the Ogudu area of the state, and charged for defilement. Vanguard reports that the prosecutor, Anthonia Osayande, told the court that the accused, who resides in the same compound as the victim, committed the offence in Lagos, sometime in November. She shared that Opeyemi, who was playing with Yinka in the compound at first, proceeded to take her to his room her and allegedly had sexual intercourse with her. The little girl, then opened up to her parents, telling them that “uncle” had inserted something in her vagina.
Opeyemi, the defendant however pleaded not guilty to the charge. The Senior Chief Magistrate, Justice Ipaye Nwachukwu, granted the accused bail in the sum of N500, 000 with two sureties in like sum.
She proceeded to adjourn the case till March 7, pending the advice from the Department of Public Prosecutions (DPP).
