Dear MIMsters: I am afraid of self medication but I’m considering doing this…

I am 39 weeks gone and this is my second pregnancy. I was induced at the 39th week of my first pregnancy which went well and I had my baby in no time. Afterwards, we relocated to another state, so it’s like a new experience for me here. Here, the hospital I registered with is the type that has many doctors on ground. So on antenatal days, one might not see the same medical official seen during the last visit, hence I am seriously considering self medication.

I am so over this pregnancy but there’s been no sign of labour yet. I have tried everything possible like walking 30 minutes every evening, eating pineapples since my 37th week, having my nipples stimulated, as well as doing 50 squats everyday and dancing.

During my first pregnancy, I was first given Castor oil at the hospital before I was administered a drip to induce me. Now, I am thinking of taking the castor oil by myself since my clinic is not helping the issue at all, but I am scared of self medication. Please advice me on what to do. Should I go ahead or keep waiting for labour to start on it’s own? I have no medical issues that I am aware of.
