Breastfeeding Mother Drags Male Colleague to Court for Secretly Filming Her When Doing This

An angry mother who works with University of Cape Town, in South Africa, reportedly drags her male colleague to court for secretly filming her while she was expressing breast milk for her baby at her workplace.

Expressing is the process of squeezing milk from the breast and storing it to give to a child later, rather than a direct feed, The SouthAfrican.com reports.

The 38-year-old unnamed man reportedly committed the said offence by setting up a live link in a private room at the institution on June 13. The lady who was disgusted with this, said she can not understand how providing food for her baby was “sexualised in such a cowardly way.”

The South African mother retold her harrowing story through a personal blog, saying she believed she was in a safe space to express milk for her baby. During the feed, she noticed there was a camera set up to film her.

”Over the past two weeks I have struggled with many emotions and questions. Mostly, I’m furious: I’m so incredibly angry that the act of me providing food for my baby was sexualised in such a cowardly way. That it was sexualised at all.

I’m disgusted that we live in a world where mothers, no matter how they choose to feed their children, are victimised for being vulnerable. I’m frustrated that during unguarded moments, my own ridiculous internalised ‘isms’ make me feel guilty about all of this.”

Meanwhile, the University has suspended the man, as Western Cape police have also confirmed that a case of crimen injuria, (the term means ‘an act of unlawfully, intentionally and seriously impairing the dignity of another) is being investigated against the university employee.
