Desperate Housewives Actress And New Mom-Of-1, Eva Longoria Gets Real About Motherhood And It Is Applaudable
Being a new mom comes with its attendant joy and worries, but a commendation is recommended when you find a new mom who takes both the joy and challenges in her stride, refusing to bow to the pressure of unrealistic expectations of the society of her as a mom, particularly when she is in the eye of the world like Eva Longoria is.
Even though Eva Longoria gave birth to her first child less than two months ago, the 43-year-old actress already feels like a natural!
Eva Jacqueline Longoria BastĂłn, an American actress, producer, director, activist and businesswoman who is popularly known for her role in the American comedy-drama, “Desperate Housewives” talked about her new life with her baby, Santiago Enrique and about her returning to work in an interview with Entertainment Tonight on Saturday.
When asked if she was struggling with self-doubt typical of new parents, she responded:
âNo ⊠When people go, “Your mother instincts kick in!” thatâs true.â
She stated further:
âKerry Washingtonâs basically my doula,â Longoria added. âI just have this amazing community of women around me that have really helped me transition into motherhood, and I think you need that.â
Longoria also shared that the best advice Washington â mother to son, Caleb Kelechi, 22 months, and 4-year-old daughter, Isabelle Amarachi â has given her is âto follow your own instincts. I have a baby nurse, I have my mom, Iâve got my mother-in-law and sheâs like, âYou have the best instincts.â â

The star actress also delved into her biggest challenges now that sheâs back to work after almost two months of being with her son âday and night,â which she termed as âthe best seven weeks of my life,â she told ET.
First, she found herself wondering how to âease back into workâ after baby.
âAs I start returning back to work slowly, [Iâm asking], âHow do you balance it all?â â Longoria explained. âEverybody used to [ask] me, âHow do you do it all? You do so many things.â And I was just like, âBecause I donât have kids.â Every project was my baby and now I actually have a baby.â
Speaking of another challenge sheâs dealt with, Eva recalled the first time she brought her baby on set and he didn’t recognize her with all the hair and makeup.
The first time she breastfed Santiago after sheâd been glammed up, she joked to Extra,
âHe was looking at me like, âWho are you, whereâs my mom?â and I was like, âThis is how Mommy really looks, sweetheart.â â

Longoria attended the premiere of her new flick, “Dog Days” on Sunday, August 5 in Century City, California with her hubby, Jose Baston, 50, by her side for the event. The new mom was radiant wearing an ivory dress but the actress admitted she was missing her new main squeeze: her 6-week old son.
”Iâve been with him 24/7 since he was born. Being here at work, thatâs probably the most difficult thing. Leaving him for four hours. Iâm like, âWhat?!â,” she admitted.

Longoria showered encomium on her hubbyâs daddy skills. Baston has been around the block once or twice when it comes to babies, he is already a father to his four kids Natalia, 23, Mariana, 15, and twins Sebastian and Jose, 15 with his ex-wife, Natalia Esperon.
”Heâs amazing. My husbandâs been so amazing. And heâs just been â I mean, I donât know how to do this alone,â gushed the new mom.
âIâve been so grateful that I have an amazing partner who supports me emotionally, taking the baby, helping with the baby, giving the baby a bath. I mean, you need this partnership. It takes a village.â
Talking about the pressure of Hollywoodâs unrealistic expectations of her to bounce back so shortly after giving birth, the actress admits that she is being kind to herself by being realistic about what her body still needs to do, for her newborn son.Â
âI am very grateful and thankful for my body for making this amazing human being. So immediately putting it through the ringer to get back into shape is not a priority.
Every time I breastfeed, I say âthank youâ to my boobs. Iâm like, âThank you for giving me a child! Thank you, boobs, thank you, body, for doing all of this for my son.ââ
