New Mum, Etinosa Idemudia Faults Flogging As A Form Of Punishment By Nigerian Parents And Guardians

Nollywood actress and new mom, Etinosa Idemudia has taken to social media to fault the popular system of punishment where children are flogged mercilessly.

In a post shared on Instagram, the comedienne who welcomed a cute baby girl late last year said when a child is raised to understand that the only way to correct is violence, they will grow up to exert the same violence on others.

Etinosa further called for research on new ways to discipline kids at home, school and church as flogging needs to stop.

In her words:

”When you raise your child to understand that the only way to correct is by violence, they will grow up to exert same violence on others in form of discipline. We need to draw a line between discipline and violence. New ways of discipline should be researched.

Flogging and beating children mercilessly at home, at school, at church needs to stop. These boys who beat their sisters mercilessly will also beat other people’s sisters and grow up to beat their wives. Then you say spare the road and spoil the child. But you have been using a rod on African children for years and the society still getting worse.

Violence increasing, morals decreasing, At what stage or decadence do we realize that the road/violence method of discipline is not effective. That it only produces damaged children that grow into damaged angry violent adults.”
