Actress, Shaffy Bello On Why She Divorced Her Husband Of 25 Years Despite Being A Good Father

Veteran Nollywood actress, Shaffy Bello has revealed why she walked out of her 25-year marriage.

The mother of two, in a chat with media personality Chude Jideonwo, said she ended her marriage with the father of her children because it was a long-distance union, as her estranged husband, Mr Akinrimisi, was based in the United States.

According to the thespian, her ex husband was a good father but she wanted more. She said she was not always travelling back and forth just to be with her family.

She further stated that coping with the situation later became difficult for her, which ultimately led to her decision to get a divorce.

In her word:

“He [my ex-husband] was a good father to his children. But I reached a point where I wanted more. I would always travel back and forth, but I realized that if I really wanted this, it came with sacrifices.

It wasn’t sacrificing the marriage itself, but rather, him being there [in the USA] and the distance didn’t help.”

“I am a one man kind of woman and I believe there is a lot of women here to fill a home. That is why when I meet people or go on a date, they are women.

I want to settle with someone at the end of the day, I don’t want to be 55 and then go out or have a birthday party and then come home and be all alone, I don’t want that. I want to be with someone, maybe not marriage, but a companion.”
