Yvonne Jegede Gets Honest About How Financial Strains And Some Other Factors Ended Her Marriage

Popular Nigerian actress, Yvonne Jegede finally disclosed the reason for leaving her marriage in 2019.

Recall that in 2019 Jegede confirmed the crash of her marriage to actor Olakunle ‘Abounce’ Fawole, barely a year after they tied the knot.

Speaking in the teaser of the upcoming episode of ‘The Honest Bunch’ podcast, the thespian opened up about the reasons her marriage crashed and said financial imbalance and disrespect were some factors.

The mum of one stated that she left her marriage because she was made more financially responsible towards the family than her ex-husband, feeling overwhelmed by the sole responsibility of providing for her son.

She also mentioned her ex-husband’s sensitivity to jokes, due to their age difference, as a contributing factor.

According to the actress, her ex-husband took every joke as disrespect because he was older than her, which was also part of the reason for their divorce. She then confessed she regrets prioritizing love over finance when she was ready to settle down.

She said in part:

“He [my ex-husband] is eight years older than me. But the moment we got married, if I tell am say, ‘You dey crease, ‘ he would say I’m disrespecting him. I would if it was the same person I got married to.

“But that wasn’t the main reason I left the marriage. Let me just say the fact, I was bringing more of the money. I’m taking care of my son like nobody exist around me. It’s not easy. I would have gone for money instead of love.”
