Father Shares Insulting Message His Child Inscribed on Bar of Soap to Him

A dad has shared an insulting message he received from his child.

The words, ‘I Hate Dad’ were inscribed on a bar of soap meant for him.

As soon as he shared the image of the defaced bar of soap on Reddit, he received several sympathetic messages from commenters, Dailymail gathers.

The dad captioned the photo:

‘It’s the small things that make being a parent so rewarding.’

While the age and the gender of the child is unknown, fellow parents were quick to offer their sympathy and share their own experiences.

Someone said: ‘Everyone hates their parents at some point.  It’s probably because you set boundaries and that’s a great thing. Fear of establishment at its beginnings.’

Another related their own similar experience: ‘My son put a sign outside his door two weeks ago that said: “Kill me“. I changed it to “Kiss me“.

Another parent shared her own demoralising exchange, saying: ‘My daughter told me the other day that she “kind of” loved me.  I’m still crushed.’

Others reminded the father that they had told their parents they hated them when they were children but had not meant it.

One wrote: ‘Whenever I was young and would tell my mom I hated her, she would always say “That’s OK, I still love you.’

One contrite user said: ‘One time I told my dad I hated him so much he wasn’t invited to my birthday party.

‘It was the first time I ever saw my dad actually cry. I genuinely hurt his feelings and I felt so bad for doing that. I love my dad and I hope you realize it’s just a phase and they don’t actually hate you.’

‘I sang a song “I hate when my daddy comes home.”

‘I meant because when he came home it was time for dinner and then bed but it probably sounded so mean to him. I still feel badly. My dad is the best.’

Another gave the dad some advice on how to get revenge on the cheeky child: ‘Write on the other side. “You’re adopted”.

One commenter suggested it was the bar of soap that was the problem: ‘Might be worth it to switch to shower gel.’

One user even praised the child for their ingenuity saying: ‘How creative. Now you can rub your child’s insults all over your body.’

Someone reminded the dad that a special day was approaching: ‘Fathers’ day is coming.  You will probably get a new soap. Don’t worry.’
