13-Year-Old Girl Leaves Home After Row With Mum & Stepdad

The mum of a 13-year-old girl, Amber Peat, who went missing four days ago after a row with her mum and stepdad over household chores, has described how she heard the door slam as her daughter stormed out of their home in annoyance. She left without any cash or phone, and is still missing.

According to DailyMail UK, her mother Kelly made an emotional appeal for Amber to ‘come home’ this morning, describing how she disappeared a day after the family returned from holiday in Cornwall.

She said: ‘We were in the living room and I heard the front door slam – and that’s when I realised. I went to the front door and looked outside but I couldn’t see her. She had just gone.’

Speaking at a press conference this morning, Mrs Peat and her husband Danny, Amber’s stepfather, said that the family returned from a holiday in Cornwall where Amber ‘had a fantastic time’ on Friday, and described a ‘minor disagreement about chores’ which came minutes before she vanished.

Mr Peat said: ‘We told her to clean a cool box out that we had had sandwiches in for the journey home. It was a chore basically and I’m sure all teenagers are the same, she didn’t want to do a chore. That was the last conversation.’

‘She doesn’t really go out,’ Mr Peat said. ‘If she gets five minutes she’ll sit down and read a book – all she wants to do is read. It doesn’t matter whether it’s a newspaper or reading to her sister. She just wants to do everything with the family.’

Mrs Peat added: ‘She loves singing, dancing, she’s just a really outgoing person.’

Describing how Amber was banned from using social media, she said: ‘I haven’t allowed it yet. I was waiting for a bit longer.’

Earlier, Mr Peat told the BBC the family was ‘petrified’ and said that Amber would be unable to fend for herself outdoors, raising the possibility that she is staying with someone.

‘She wouldn’t be able to stay out,’ he said. ‘She’s a tiny little thing and the weather’s been freezing. We think she’s maybe in somewhere with somebody.’
