2-Year-Old Girl Wanders 600 Metres From Home In Pyjamas

A two-year-old girl forced to sleep next to filthy animal cages has been taken into care after she was found wandering the streets in her pyjamas. When police investigated, her 27-year-old dad said he’d fallen asleep on the couch after playing video games all night, while her mother, 20, had been at a parenting class.

The alarm was raised by a woman in Rhyl town centre at 10am on May 23 who spotted the child wandering on her own in the rain, wearing her pyjamas and Wellington boots and eating a yoghurt.

She had wandered 600 metres away from home, negotiating the broken glass and dog faeces which were scattered on the steps of her home.

Caernarfon Crown Court heard the girl was forced to live in appalling conditions at a home in Rhyl, North Wales.

The fire alarm at the home had been deliberately covered up and the toddler slept in a cot surrounded by animal cages, rubbish, and faeces.

The Judge said the parents made ‘conscious efforts’ to avoid contact with social services who had concerns.
