This Bride Refused To Walk Down The Aisle Until Groom Did This

A bride-to-be, Meryl Clarke, 29, refused to walk down the aisle until her fiance paid £6,000 for a tummy tuck and surgery to take her AA boobs to a DD.

Meryl struggled to come to terms with her drastic weight loss after a severely overactive thyroid saw her drop seven stone in just six months. So, when her boyfriend, Luke Clarke, popped the question on New Year’s Eve in 2013, she was torn.

She developed problems with her thyroid gland in 2004, where an operation to remove it left her constantly gaining or losing weight and by 2013, she had managed to keep her weight at a healthy size 8, but the damage to her body had been done.

On one hand, she could not wait to marry the man of her dreams – but on the other, she knew her body, which dropped from 20 stone to 13, would bother her.

Meryl said: “When Luke proposed I was happy but I imagined I’d be walking down the aisle smiling on the outside but not on the inside. Even just wearing normal clothes I had to put socks in my bra and pull my tights up to my armpits and I couldn’t do that in a wedding dress. My body didn’t bother Luke he’s seen me at my biggest and my smallest and he loves me the same. But I wanted a new body for me, he hated seeing how it affected me. For me my body is now perfect – to have breasts again is and have the sagging skin removed is amazing. It’s given me so much more confidence. I’m constantly holding my new boobs, I can’t believe they’re there. Clothes now fit properly and shopping for underwear has been amazing. Before the surgery I considered getting prosthetic breasts sewn into my wedding dress so to have walked down the aisle with my dream body in my dream dress was an amazing feeling.

People probably think it sounds great going from a size 20 to a size eight but it drastically changed my body. I was left with flabs of skin hanging from my tummy, arms and legs and my boobs were like empty flaps of skin, they were awful. I spent many days crying myself to sleep because my body was literally eating itself. I had the body of an old woman, my boobs were like empty flaps of skin, I looked 80 from the neck down. I had no breast tissue and this large apron of skin, if I ran it would make a clapping sound.”

Meryl had planned to raise the £6,000 to pay for the operation by herself but as an early wedding present for his new bride-to-be, her eager groom agreed to foot the bill.

Delighted with her new dream body, Meryl finally walked down the aisle and married Luke at a ceremony in Rothley Court, Leicester, last month.

She is now set to have some more excess skin removed from her stomach in time for her to wear a bikini for the first time when she jets off on honeymoon in July.
