How Husband Sold Wife Into Slavery in Pakistan

A woman allegedly sold by her husband into slavery has been rescued by the police after she was found chained to a bed where she was forced to work for her owner.

The Mirror reports:

The woman, from Chiniot, in the Punjab region of Pakistan, was reportedly sold for just £312 and forced to work for the unknown buyer for a month before she was rescued. It is claimed the woman was also beaten severely by her contractor and had suffered serious wounds and injuries on the knees of both her legs.

Picture shows the woman with chains clamped around her neck and ankles attaching her to a bed where she was made to work for her buyer.

It is believed a local journalist was made aware of the incident and immediately reported the woman’s condition to police before escorting them to her location.

Reports suggest the woman’s husband was poor, and had sold his wife in the hope of making extra money. Police attended the scene and freed the woman before escorting her to the local police station to fully remove her chains.

The man responsible for enslaving the woman has not been found.
