Amazing Photos Capture Conjoined Twins Before And After Operation
Brazilian photographer, Mateus Andre, has captured amazing images of five-month-old conjoined twins Maria Clara and Maria Eduarda Oliveira Santana before and after their separation surgery.
Mateus had taken photos of the twins back in August and returned to photograph them after their successful operation at the end of September.
Mateus stated he wanted to capture the bond between the girls once they were separated and revealed the experience brought him closer to the twins and their parents, Denise Borges Oliveira and Caique Santana Ramos dos Santos, as well as change his perspective on people with physical and mental problems.
He said: “I started to have admiration for those whom society does not try to see. We all deserve dignity, no matter who it is.”
He hopes one day when the twins are older, he will be able to take photos of them. He said: “I intend to one day have a reunion when they are larger, and show them the pictures and say, ‘I photographed you, I introduced you to the world!'”
