Pregnant Mum & Boyfriend Charged to Court Following Baby’s Death in the Oven

The mother of a baby who was burned to death (read here) as well as her boyfriend have been arrested and charged with four counts of child endangerment, Fox News reports.

Police said that the couple, pregnant 25-year-old mom, Racqual Thompson and her boyfriend, 21-year-old Cornell Malone had left the kids alone in the apartment while they went out for dinner. They had left four children alone in the apartment, a five-year-old girl, a three-year-old boy, another three-year-old girl and the now dead 19-month-old baby girl, J’zyra Thompson.

A Child Protective Services official said the mother has an extensive record. Officials also say that the 19-month old baby had been severely burned to death and her lifeless body had been left by the oven after Thompson had left her kids alone in their northeast Houston apartment while she was out for about two hours with Malone getting a pizza.

The judge was clearly not happy with the couple who wore blank faces during the Tuesday hearing. They are each looking at four counts of endangering a child, one count for each child who was left alone in the house when the death happened. The judge said,

“Each of you all have warrants out for your arrest for endangering the children. One of those bonds is $30,000. The other three are set at $2000.”

Child Protective Service officials said the three-year-old boy admitted he put 19-month-old J’zra in the oven, where she burned to death.
