Muslim Parents Who Murdered Daughter in Germany Get Life Sentence

A Muslim mother and father who murdered their own daughter for bringing ‘shame’ on their family have been jailed for life in Germany, Daily Mail reports.

19-year-old Lareeb Khan was strangled by her father, 52-year-old Azadulla because she had sex with a man he did not approve of. Lareeb’s mother, 42-year-old Shazia reportedly looked on while her husband murdered their daughter in her bedroom during the night.

The so called ‘Honour Killing’ was carried out because they learned Lareeb had tried to steal condoms for illicit sex sessions with her lover; a 23-year-old man called Raheel whom they did not approve of. The killer parents then disposed of their daughter’s body.

Germany is struggling with an influx of almost a million refugees, most of them Muslim, and this crime is both a shock and an indication of the changing face of the country. The case stokes fears of a schizophrenic society evolving with some immigrants unable to jettison values and beliefs that have no place in modern western societies.

The presiding judge, Judge Volker Wagner, in his summary referred to the Muslim parent’s right to live in their own cultural cosmos. He however said this should not be at the expense of human life before delivering his sentence.
