Photo: Ogun State Journalist & Daughter Abducted

A female journalist has been abducted alongside her daughter in Ogun state. The incident occurred on the 3rd of June, 2016.

Premium reports that a journalist with the Ogun State Council of Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Nofisat Oshin, alongside her 15-year-old daughter, Afolabi, have been abducted by gunmen in Ijebu-Ode town of the state.

A statement released by NUJ on Friday, signed by the acting chairman, Soji Amosu, stated that Nofisat and her daughter were kidnapped at gun point at about 8:00 PM on Thursday.

Reports gathered claims that the kidnapped journalist is wife of a former Deputy Speaker of Ogun State House of Assembly, Tokunbo Oshin and also the director of information with Odogbolu local government area of the state.

Nofisat was reportedly said to be driving with her daughter when they were accosted along Akobi street in Ijebu-Ode. However, their whereabouts remained unknown at the time of filing this report.

NUJ described the victims abduction as “barbaric” and called on security agencies and state government to help find the perpetrators.
