Nigerian Army Doctor Sacked For Taking Advantage of Colleague’s Wife
A married medical doctor with the Nigerian Army, Lieutenant Musa Mustapha Bature, was reportedly dismissed by a Nigerian Army court-martial sitting in Ibadan, Oyo State, on Wednesday, after he was found guilty of sleeping with his colleague’s wife. He had allegedly taken advantage of the woman during a gynaecological consultation in his office.
According to PremiumTimes, sources alleged the doctor, a native of Kebbi State, was quite notorious for sexual indiscipline in his four years of service before his last misconduct got him into trouble.
The victim, a young newly-wed from Yobe State, told the court the doctor sexually stimulated her during an examination in his office and had sex with her. She added that the doctor later invited her to his house in the evening that same day, supposedly so she could pick an ointment he earlier prescribed for her treatment. While there, she revealed they had another round of intercourse.

She claimed she was subsequently overwhelmed by guilt and reported what had transpired to the barrack’s chaplain who brought the attention of authorities to her allegations.
The convicted 38-year-old doctor, a dad of one, reportedly confessed to the crime. His counsel pleaded with the president of court to give a lesser or no punishment at all, arguing that his client’s sack may permanently affect his future career.
In view of the court’s decision, a military council in charge of ratifying court verdicts is expected to make the final decision that will determine the doctor’s eventual fate.
