Celebrity Mom, Omawumi Speaks On Her Decision To Be A Baby Mama Before Getting Married
Nigerian singer-songwriter, Omawumi Megbele, known by her stage name Omawumi has revealed that she was once a baby mama by her own decision before she finally settled down with her husband, Tosin Yussuf.
The 39-year-old mother of two said she made the decision to stay away from marriage after the birth of their daughter until she is certain they were both ready for marriage.
According to her, after four years of being a baby mama, she and her husband came into a consensus to walk down the aisle and stay together officially as husband and wife.
The brand ambassador for Globacom, Konga.com and Malta Guiness disclosed this when she appeared on TV Continental, TVC on June 3, while discussing about if it is morally right for a woman to decide to just have kids without being married. In her words:
“I did it. I was a baby mama for four years before Papa Kamila decided to marry me. I don’t know why. I was a baby mama for four years and I decided and said I don’t want to marry until we are good and ready.”
Omawumi added that nobody has the right to question a woman’s decision.
The couple had their court wedding on 16th of January 2015 and are blessed with a boy and a girl.
