A Nigerian man and community leader in a locality somewhere in Apapa, Lagos; High Chief Kehinde Kalejaiye has taken to social media to narrate the tragic manner LASUTH doctor’s carelessness killed his wife, Mrs Omolara Kalejaiye on December 11, 2018.

According to how the man narrated his story in a video shared by Instablog9ja, the community leader had rushed his sick wife to LASUTH on December 11, 2018; at about 11:30p.m.

On getting there, they met one Dr. Olagundoye and his personnel who asked him to buy some medications for his wife’s treatment, and according to him, he promptly did. At this point, in the video, the widower showed all the medications he purchased for his late wife’s treatment and one could see that they were unused.

Kalejaiye said his wife was placed on Intravenous fluid popularly referred to as “drip” and around 2a.m, the woman woke up and her husband said he conversed with her and she responded to him.

Afterwards, the hospital told him that his wife needed to be placed on admission but that there was no bed so she would have to be referred to another hospital for that to be done.

The dismayed husband said at this juncture, he had expressed his concern on the fact that the woman was on medication and he requested to know if there was going to be an ambulance to move her to the new hospital and a personnel to go with her at that time of the night.

To further shock him, he was told that there was neither of such. He said they showed no concern about it saying once they have issued a referral letter, the responsibility was off their hands. They likewise insisted that she had to be taken away from LASUTH immediately.

Kalejaiye stated that he also insisted that there was no way he would move his wife at such an ungodly hour without an ambulance or a personnel to escort her to the hospital she was being referred to in her then present state.

According to him, the next thing he saw was that the nurses yanked off both the artificial oxygen and the drip that was being administered on his wife off her and insisted she must be taken away at that time. At this stage in the video, Kalejaiye showed the left over drip that was taken off his late wife’s body.

The distressed husband then called out the leadership of the country for their lack of empathy towards the poor, asking how an hospital like LASUTH would complain of lack of beds to admit patients.

He implored Nigerians, human rights activists, and Senior advocates of Nigeria particularly mentioning Chief Femi Falana, SAN whom he acknowledged had been fighting for the masses to do more by coming to his aid. He stated that Nigerians need to arise and fight against the ‘no bed’ excuses in the hopsitals.

Kalejaiye also stated that the hospital they were referred to was Federal Medical Centre and that on getting there, the complaint was also lack of beds for admission.

At this point, the man regrettably opined that if the doctors had administered all the medications he was made to buy for his late wife on her before dawn, she would probably have lived.
